If you decide to switch to another network and you want to keep your phone number, you’ll need to request a 'Porting Authorisation Code' (PAC).

Or, if you’re leaving us and not planning on keeping your current mobile number, you’ll need a Service Termination Authorisation Code (STAC).

Get a PAC

You can request your PAC by:

You should receive your PAC within 60 seconds. If you want a PAC, you’ll need to be in the UK to request it.

You have up to 30 days from when you leave giffgaff to request a PAC from us, and it will be valid for an additional 30 days from the date of issue. If you wish to request a PAC after you have left, you can do this by logging into your account. We’ll be sad to see you go.

Note: If your SIM has been inactive for longer than 6 months, it will be automatically deactivated. A member is then able to request a PAC from our agents within 30 days of being deactivated. This will allow members to transfer the number to a different UK network.

Get a STAC

You can request your STAC by:

You should receive your STAC within 60 seconds. If you want a STAC, you’ll need to be in the UK to request it.

You can Text 'INFO' to 85075 for free, if you want to see your latest account information.

Note: Only request a STAC if you want to close your existing account without transferring its number. A STAC will permanently cancel your number after you’ve switched to a new network.

If you wish to transfer your number to a new network, you’ll need to request a PAC instead.

A STAC or PAC code will be valid for 30 days. Once you have your code, you’ll then need to share that code with your new network provider, when requested.
