Deleting your eSIM removes it permanently from your device. Once an eSIM has been deleted, it cannot be restored or recovered by simply switching to a new eSIM.
For security reasons, MFA codes for eSIMs are no longer sent via email. If you still have access to your giffgaff account and wish to continue using an eSIM, you'll need to perform two SIM swaps: first, to a physical SIM, and then to a new eSIM.
Step 1: Switch to a physical SIM (select to receive the MFA code by email)
Step 1: Switch to a physical SIM (select to receive the MFA code by email)
First up, you'll need a brand new, unactivated giffgaff SIM which you can order one for free (You can also get a new SIM in most local supermarkets. Or, if you've got a spare that's never been activated, just use that)
Once you’ve got your SIM, log into your account on the giffgaff app or website (it’s super important that you do this first)
Then, follow these steps to replace your SIM. Either:
App: tap on Account > SIM > Replace my SIM > Switch to a new physical SIM
Web: pop over to your Dashboard > Replace my SIM
Follow the steps to complete the switch a physical SIM card again
Step 2: Switch to a new eSIM (the MFA code will be sent by SMS)
Step 2: Switch to a new eSIM (the MFA code will be sent by SMS)
Log into your giffgaff app (it’s super important that you do this first)
Head over to Account > SIM > Replace my SIM > Switch to a new eSIM
From here, follow the on-screen instructions to finish switching to an eSIM
Please allow at least 24 hours between each SIM switch. You can switch to a new SIM or eSIM between 4:30am and 9:30pm.
Note: If you can’t access your account because your eSIM was deleted and you’re unable to receive verification codes, you’ll need to contact us for help recovering access to your account.
