Depending on your device you may need to upgrade to the latest software that would be iOS 14 or newer if you're using an Apple device or Android 9 or newer if you’re using an android device.
Here’s what you can do depending on the device you’re using.

Open Settings.
Select Notifications.
Make sure the “Emergency Alerts” toggle is on/off.

Individual phones may vary. In settings search for “Emergency Alerts”, click on “Wireless Emergency Alerts” (this may also be labelled “Emergency Alerts”) to access the settings. Slide the Emergency Alerts based on whether you want the alerts on or off.
For other Android Phones:

Open Settings, select Sounds and select Advanced. You should see an option for Emergency Broadcasts.
Open Settings, select Wireless & Networks and select More. You should see an option for Cell Broadcasts.
Open Settings and select General Settings. You should see an option for Emergency Alerts.
Open the text message app and select Message Settings. You should see an option for Emergency Alert Settings.

Existing methods will still be in place, so members without an up-to-date device will still be made aware through the news and emergency services.

If you received an Emergency Alert, you may still be able to view it on your phone after you have acknowledged it. On Android phones, the alert may be found in the Messages app. For iPhone users, the alert will be in your notifications. Access your notifications by swiping down from the top of your screen. If you clear your notifications, the alert will also be deleted.

You may receive the same Emergency Alert multiple times if you have an Android device that’s set to remind you about alerts. Check your phone’s settings to turn this off.
