What’s the roaming credit spend cap?

How the giffgaff credit spend cap works, including limits, notifications, and how to manage your data while abroad.

The credit spend cap stops you from spending more than £45 of your credit on data per month while roaming, if you have either used up your data roaming allowance or do not have an airtime plan in place. Each month the cap will be reset.

How it works

It’s off by default, so you’ll need to switch it 'on' if you want it. We’ll give you a heads-up by text as you get close to the limit. Once you hit £45, that’s it — no more credit spending for the month.

Want to switch it on/off?

  1. Head to your dashboard

  2. Tap Profile & settings

  3. Scroll to Credit spend cap and tap on Open

  4. Then find the Credit spend cap section and switch the toggle to On, or Off
