Well, that all depends on the phone you have. Some phone models can hold more than eight eSIMs but only one or two can be active at a time.

How do I know if my phone can support multiple SIMs?

Phones that work with multiple SIMs (a physical SIM card or an eSIM) are called dual SIM phones.

The exact combination that you can use depends on the specifications of your phone.

Dual SIM phones let you have two different plans and phone numbers on the same phone but the two SIMs have to be linked to separate numbers. This comes in handy when managing your personal and work lines or local and international numbers.

As a quick guide, these are the phones that work with dual SIM. Don’t forget to check your phone’s specs to find out if it works with two physical SIMs, two eSIMs, or a combination of both:

  • iPhone XS or later

  • Samsung Galaxy S20/Note 20, Z Fold/Flip, or later

  • Google Pixel 3 or later

  • Plus more: Oppo Find X3/X5/N2, Honor Magic4 Pro 5G/Magic5, Sony Xperia 10 IV, Xiaomi Mi 12T Pro

Note: a giffgaff account can only have one physical SIM or eSIM linked to it at any point in time. If you want multiple physical SIMs or eSIMs with giffgaff, you’ll need multiple accounts.
