This typically happens when we’re unable to debit funds from your balance or bank account. For example, this could be caused by:
Expired cards
Insufficient funds
Your bank declining the payment
Expired cards are also a common reason for payment rejections, which can put your contract on hold. Keeping your payment details up to date ensures your giffgaff payments go through smoothly, preventing any delays.
Note: Mobile contract plans can only be restarted using a saved card or PayPal. You can’t use credit.
If you’re in a contract, you won’t be able to remove your card as it’s needed for monthly payments. Once your contract ends, you’ll move to a rolling monthly plan and can remove your card if you want.
Updating your card details
Head over the giffgaff website/giffgaff app
If you aren't logged in already, login into your giffgaff account
Click on 'Orders and Payments'
Select 'Update card' or 'Add credit/debit card'
Enter your card details
Check your billing address - click 'Change' if needed
Once completed, click 'Update card'
Buying a new contract
If your plan has been cancelled due to a failed payment, you’ll need to buy it again. Buying your plan again does not restart your contract term.
Click Buy a plan
Select the plan you’d like (you can choose the same plan or a different one)
Complete the order
Your contract will continue from where it left off and any remaining months will still apply.
