A plan (formerly known as a goodybag) is a bundle that contains a quota of UK minutes, texts and data. Plans last for 1 calendar month and can be used while you're in the UK, the EU and selected countries.
Plans and credit are separate. You can check the remaining minutes in your plan and expiry date via My giffgaff in the giffgaff mobile app or by dialling 43430 then option 2.
If you use all of your plan or data before the plan's expiry date, you'll then be charged out of your credit balance at the standard PAYG rate. Or, once you have less than 500 MB of data remaining, you can instead buy another plan early. Check out all the different plans available here.

Note: You won't be able to buy a plan if you have recur set up, you can learn how to switch this off here.
Online: to buy any plan using a payment card, paypal, existing credit or a voucher, just pick the plan from the Buy a plan section.
Only one payment method can be used per online transaction. If you want to use a voucher together with another payment method, first redeem the voucher as credit, then buy your plan using your updated credit balance.
Note: You won't be able to use your credit to buy a plan if:
You do not have enough credit to pay for the plan you've selected.
You set your plan to recur.
Can I buy a new plan before the current one expires?
Can I buy a new plan before the current one expires?
You can do that if you have less than 500 MB left in your plan.
There are different ways to buy a plan early, depending on the result you want to achieve:
You want your plan to be renewed automatically every month. You will need to set your plan to auto renew.
You want to pre-purchase your next plan so it starts when your current plan expires. You will need a queued plan.
You don't have any data or minutes left in your current plan and you want to buy a new one right now. You can buy a plan and start it early.
When you purchase a plan early, it erases your current plan and you will lose all remaining allowances, so we ask you to confirm you are really sure you want to start a new plan right now.
Note:
You can start a recurring or queued plan up to 9pm on the day of expiry of your active plan
You can queue a plan up to 10pm if you complete it online
You can queue a plan if you do it via the 43430 top up line but you must do it before 9pm.
Queued and recurring plans do not automatically start early if the current plan runs out of data. You need to manually start the next plan early to make sure you can still get access to our services and not dip into your existing credit.
Non-standard calls & texts
Picture messages (MMS), calls to service, premium and other non-standard numbers and other services not included in the plan allowance will be debited from your credit. See this article for a detailed list and the UK pricing page for a breakdown of the different call and message costs.
Using your plan abroad
Calls, texts and mobile data while you are using your phone outside of the EU and selected countries are not included in your plan and are debited from your credit. The detail of the rate for each location can be found on the Roaming charges page.
Your plan cannot be used when you are abroad except in in the EU and selected countries. See the related article for limits on eligibility, duration and a cap on the data which can be used in EU.
