Yes, you can buy a PAYG (pay as you go) plan using your available credit, however it depends on what you currently have.

If you don’t have a recurring plan (i.e. monthly rolling or 18 month contract) you can buy a PAYG plan at any time using your credit. You cannot start recurring plans using your credit however, once going you can then buy the next recurring plan using your credit.

Buying PAYG plans:

If you have enough credit to cover the cost of the plan, you can do this easily by following these steps:

  1. Go to the Buy a Plan page.

  2. Choose the plan you want.

  3. Select the option to pay using your credit.

Buying next recurring plan:

If you already have a recurring plan set up, you can set your next recurring plan to renew from your credit, there’s no need to switch off your recurring plan first. Just make sure 'Use my credit first' is set to 'ON' here.

How to buy a plan online from credit:

Online: Start here and the option to “pay with balance” will appear when you're ready to buy:

giffgaff app: Just change your payment method to "credit balance", assuming it's not already selected.

By Phone: dial 43430 option 2 to choose a plan and pay from your credit balance using your device keypad.

What to do if your current plan hasn't expired yet:

  • your new plan will be queued ready to start at midnight on the day your present plan expires

  • it will not automatically start before then, even if the old plan runs out of data

  • If you have run out of data in your current plan, to start it sooner, see How can I start a plan early
